Pneumatic clutch and brake unit is usually used in punching machine, die-cutting machinery, cutting machinery and other forging and pressing equipment. Die-cutting machine pneumatic clutch, air filling from inlet port into clutch, pushing piston moves forwards to and compressed lining, through clutch base making driving shaft rotating, clutch linked for working. When exhausting air pressure, piston moves back and compressed lining by springs, clutch stops.
Pneumatic clutch and brake unit
Clutches and brakes are idea automation devises widely used in driving power transmission and motion control.
Pneumatic clutches/ brakes
Theory:
The pneumatic Clutch / Brake combination unit consists of an air actuated disc clutch and spring applied Disc Brake. Its compact design combined with its high thermal capacity and low air consumption makes it ideal for high speed, high cyclic, heavy-duty industrial applications. When cylinder is pressurized, the piston clamps the clutch disc to the hub, which transmits the torque to shaft. When cylinder exhausts, the springs moves the piston in the opposite direction clamping the brake disc & stopping the shaft.
With pneumatic clutches, the axial thrust for building up the torque is transmitted by a piston running in a cylinder. When the cylinder space is depressurized, the springs push back the piston to its starting position.
Operation
With spring-applied brakes, the axial thrust required for building up the torque is generated by springs. The brake is released by applying the appropriate pneumatic pressure to the piston. In the combined units, the frictional connection is produced on the clutch side with air pressure and on the brake side with spring pressure. The number of springs and thereby the spring pressure can be selected in accordance with the level of torque required.
Areas of application
Clutches and brakes in both single and double-plate versions permit high switching frequencies and high thermal loading. Multi-plate versions, on the other hand, provide a favorable torque size ratio, but their permitted thermal loads are lower than for the single and double-plate versions. Pneumatically actuated clutches with spring-applied brakes can be supplied as a combined unit in a single-plate version. This unit, which was developed in particular for presses and guillotines, is capable of being fitted between flywheel and machine body in a very small space. Overlap between Clutch and Brake is completely eliminated. Pneumatic-torque offers a wide range of pneumatic drum brake and pneumatic disc clutches units for use in Power presses, Shearing machines, Wood working machines & Special Purpose machines with the large range of sizes and capacities of Clutch Torque & Brake Torque which are available in numerous models.
